If you’re a skilled freelancer or would like to get into the space, there are plenty of freelance platforms out there for you to choose from.

One of these platforms is PeoplePerHour — or PPH.

In this article, we’ll tell you all about PeoplePerHour, show you the different types of jobs you can get, and walk through how you can sign up.

What Is PeoplePerHour?

As a freelancer, you can use the platform to search for projects that relate to your particular skill set and land paying jobs.

Similar to the UpWork and Fiverr freelance marketplaces, the PeoplePerHour platform is a mutually beneficial community of businesses and freelancers.

Businesses are able to find specialists for their projects and you’re able to get paid for work that’s right up your alley.

Let’s look at some of the benefits you’ll receive if you decide to work through PeoplePerHour.

If you’re new to the game, you can use the platform to gain more experience and raise your rates as you become more seasoned.

The platform also makes managing your current projects a breeze.

You’re able to communicate with your clients, ask a question, share files, track deadlines, and receive feedback on project performance.

Start Working on PeoplePerHour

PeoplePerHour is similar to other freelance platforms.

You’ll need to register, create a compelling profile, find available jobs, and successfully complete them to get paid.

1. Register

The first step is signing up for the service.

You can head to the sign-up page to begin the registration process.

You can decide to sign up with your Facebook account or instead fill out your personal information.

This includes your name, email, password, and location.

You’ll also need to decide which type of account you want to create.

You can either be a buyer, freelancer, or both.

Once you submit your registration, you’ll need to verify your email.

2. Create Your Profile

After you register and verify your email, you’ll need to create your profile.

This consists of the following steps.

  • Tell Us About You: This includes your job title, profile and cover images, a description of yourself, your hourly rate, and a portfolio if you have one.
It’s important to thoroughly explain the value you can bring to a project and talk about previous success you’ve had working for other companies.
  • Select Your Skills: This is where you describe your top skills and secondary skills you can bring to the table. You can list up to three primary skills and 12 secondary skills.
You can also select certain industries that you specialize in and can upload certifications if you have any.
  • Add References: You’re then able to link any professional social media accounts or websites that can show how great of a freelancer you are.
This includes your LinkedIn, Facebook, and external portfolios you have.
  • Set Your On-site Preferences: You can choose to work remotely or on-site. It’s all up to you.
You can also specify how far you’re willing to travel if you decide to work in person.
  • Personalise Your Application: The last step is giving your profile some personal flair.
This describes why you’re so great at your job and how you can provide value to the company you’re working with.
Companies need to trust you, so this is your chance to show off a little bit.

You can then submit your application once you’ve gone through all of these steps.

You’ll have the choice to expedite your application by paying £10 ($12.70 USD).

If you take this route, you can get a response within one business day.

If you decide not to pay, you’ll have to wait around seven business days for approval.

3. Post an Offer

When you’ve been approved to work on the PeoplePerHour platform, you can begin by posting an offer.

An offer is a packaged service that companies can receive at a set price.

This could be a job like writing a 1,500-word article for $100.

A company knows exactly what they’re getting and they can hire you on the spot.

When posting an offer, you should be very descriptive and explain what exactly you can provide.

You should include good examples of previous work so a company can trust you’re a reliable freelancer.

If a company likes you, they’ll reach out and you can begin the project.

4. Search for Projects

The other way to find a job is to search for projects and create a proposal for a job if it fits your skill-set.

When searching for jobs, you’ll be able to see project details, the pay rate, and how many other proposals have already been submitted.

This is nice because you can gauge how much competition there is for a particular job.

When you see a job you like, you should be quick to submit a proposal.

Your proposal should explain why you’re the right person for the job.

You should also specify your rate and ask any questions you may have.

5. Complete the Job

If your proposal has been selected, you can start working on your project.

Within the PeoplePerHour platform, you can communicate with the client throughout the duration of the project.

You can also manage deadlines and exchange files when needed.

It’s important that you stay on track, hit all of your due dates, and maintain open lines of communication.

The more transparency you provide, the better off you’ll be.

After the successful completion of the project, payment will be made through the platform.

You’ll request payment from the client which will be held in an escrow account.

The client will have seven days to make the payment to you if they’re completely satisfied with the project results.

You can get paid through PayPal, UnionPay, or several other convenient payment methods.

PeoplePerHour Fees

It’s free to register to work with PeoplePerHour, however, freelancers will be charged a service fee for the work they complete through the platform.

The more work you do through the platform, the smaller your service fee will be.

If you have high lifetime billings, your service fee percentage will be much lower.

The following service fees are applied to freelance work.

  • Over $7,000 lifetime billings: 3.5%
  • Between $700 and $7,000 lifetime billings: 7.5%
  • Below $700 lifetime billings: 20%

As you can tell, if you’re new to the service or are just dabbling to see if you like it, your service fee will be much steeper at 20%.

Once you get past the $700, the service fee will drop substantially down to 7.5%.

If you steadily put in work, you’ll be able to hit the top tier in no time.
